Barcol Durometer
The Barcol method is a way to measure the hardness of a material by measuring the resistance to the penetration of a steel tip, forced by a spring. In the measuring instrument, there is a scale between 0 and 100.
Applications:
This method of measurement is used to obtain the hardness of aluminum alloys, metals with low hardness, such as lead and brass, polymers, rubbers and leather. Besides that, it is used for measuring the curing level of resins. It is standardized by ASTM D2583 and ASTM B648.
